The last couple months have been low-key, photo-wise. Not that there wasn't stuff. Oh, I assure you there was stuff. It was just... low key stuff. Headshots for eight-year-old actresses and education-reform specialists, that sort of stuff.
The next two months will be eventful-- the Boston Marathon is just around the corner, and horse-clinic and wedding season are both approaching, which means things (and I) will be more active around these parts.
Of course, if you're up to something exciting and would like some documentation, by all means drop me a line.
2011 has been chilly so far, and over two feet of snow shut down the greater Boston area for a couple days this month. Some of our local bands have managed to keep things hot, though!
Check out the "Landscapes" tab for a few new views of winter in Harvard Square, and see the new lineup of Tijuana Sweetheart, along with Tired Old Bones and Cult45, under "Music & Events."
Updates aplenty, starting with improved navigation menus across the top and side of this page! Use those new buttons to see the recent additions in almost every category of the site (some might call it "spreading thin," while others see it as "diversification.")
Looking forward to Halloween weekend! Aside from the usual assortment of ghouls, goblins, and Justin Bieber lookalikes, this year we're checking out "Fuck the Clock Tower, Save Horror Business!" at Great Scott in Allston on 10/31 (no holiday-moving shenanigans from these guys!) All proceeds from ticket sales help preserve a mainstay of the Allston/Brighton community, Horror Business! Go buy a ticket already!
The 2011 "Save Our Swimsuit Calendar" is now available for pre-order! All money raised drom this project will be donated to the Gulf Restoration Network, for use in marine research projects. For more information on them, visit healthygulf.org
As for the calendar, order here:
Save Our Swimsuit Calendars on Kickstarter.comThe "Save Our Swimsuit Calendar" is in the can. Shot, edited, and awaiting some final formatting. The Kickstarter page will be going live shortly. Hopefully the twisted, questionable humor won't be misconstrued as cynicism.
Also, this:
Moving right along on preparations for our Oil Pollution Calendar Project! We have 15 very brave and compassionate Boston-area models, ready and willing to demonstrate the future of the Swimsuit Calendar, if tragedies like the Deepwater Horizon oil leak continue to happen.
The main goal is to raise awareness of the environmental impact that these incidents have on all the plants and animals that inhabit our planet, but we're hoping to raise a little money for marine research groups and restoration groups as well. Calendars will be on sale shortly before Labor Day; please watch this page for availability updates and behind-the-scenes goodies!
Also, new photos added under People and Events&Music, with appearances by Miika Benedetti, Luke Lepore, the ladies of Raspberry Beret, and Tijuana Sweetheart!Life has been hectic, despite the absence of a May update. William has been busy with several private commissions ranging from some amazing pin-up photo sessions to illustrations for public-garden signage. Also in the works is a return to three-dimensional media, from prop construction for a fashion show, to a full-scale installation at the Lilypad Gallery in Somerville, MA later this summer.
William is collaborating with several models, artists and generally-good-people on a swimsuit calendar to raise money for relief, rescue and cleanup efforts surrounding the massive oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico. This isn't your normal pin-up calendar, though!!! Anyone who would like to help, as a model, sponsor or potential reseller, please contact me with your info, interests and availability. We will be shooting throughout July, and looking to have the calendar for sale in August.
William recently had the opportunity to shoot some promotional photos for Wendy Jepson's new project, 12 Races 12 Months. Visit 12Races12Months.com to see shots of Wendy in action and follow her in her marathon year (pun intended.)
NEW SECTIONS(sorta:) With so many photographic interests, the process of organization on this site is a mighty one, and still ongoing. The "Cast Reflections" collaboration with Joey Asal hasn't found it's way back to a proper category link, but can still be viewed here.
Also, the first session of a photographic homage to "Who Killed Amanda Palmer?" can be seen here. Plans are already in motion for the next couple sessions, so stay tuned!
NEW SECTIONS - "Weddings & Events" has been split into two sections, weddings and music & events. Photos from the March 6, 2010 show at the Middle East in Cambridge, MA, featuring the Marvels, Tijuana Sweetheart (formerly Vagiant,) Never Got Caught and Dead Friends have been added to music & events, as well as photos from the YWCA awards luncheon held at the Copley Marriott in Boston in June 2009.
Photos from the collaboration with Boston artist Joey Asal, entitled "Cast Reflections," have been temporarily removed from the site. Selections from the photo set will be incorporated into projections & overlays.
Updates from previous months will now be archived in the News Archive section, and can be viewed by selecting "view past updates" at the bottom of the welcome screen.
NEW SECTION - "Projections" has been added to the galleries menu below. "Projections" is the combination of several of my favorite elements -portraits and figure studies, texture and macro photography, design and tactile textiles. I will add to this section as I explore the results of wrapping textures around forms using light & shadow.
Photos from the opening for Joey Asal's "Kinetic Geometry" at BoConcept Urban Design are now in the "weddings" gallery. Mod fashions provided by Artifaktori Vintage.
Photos from the Anti-Valentine's show at the Baseball Tavern, featuring the Jeddo Stars, Tijuana Sweetheart (formerly Vagiant) and Tired Old Bones are now in the "weddings" [edit 10 Mar 10: events] gallery.
